TST Upgrades Efficiency of Manhole Piping for Veolia Energy Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – In March of 2013, TST returned to Philadelphia to upgrade the thermal efficiency of steam piping in ten (10) manholes on Veolia Energy Philadelphia’s steam distribution loop. For nearly two decades, TST has been providing Veolia Energy with custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) for their manhole piping systems.  Our turnkey contracting services for RICs consists of measurement, design, manufacture and installation. All measurement and installation work for RICs is carried out while the steam piping remains in service which often results in hot, rigorous work environments. Our experienced team of field technicians is confined space trained and will only enter these confined spaces after setting up adequate ventilation measures.  Wearing proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) allows our field technicians to work safely and efficiently at all times.

Veolia Energy’s district energy network serves the central business district in Philadelphia from three steam production facilities and one chilled water facility. Veolia owns and operates over 26 miles of steam and chilled water piping that current serves over 300 customers.
