TST Gets Energy-Saving Insulation Upgrades Underway at NSA Monterey
MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA – Working in conjunction with Utility Systems Solutions, Inc. (US2), TST’s confined space entry team arrived at NSA Monterey to begin measuring steam piping within 17 manholes for custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC). Over a period of four days, our team safely accessed the manholes and measured all bare fittings and pipe that are currently a source of energy loss. TST found nearly 300 bare fittings and 115 LF of pipe that will be insulated with custom-made RICs. While on site, TST also installed 78 RICs in the boiler house on valves that were identified and measured during a previous visit to the Naval Postgraduate School. TST will return to NSA Monterey in late August or early September to complete the 2nd and final phase of work.
