NYC Steam Line Survey
We took a trip up to New York City last week to inspect a section of underground steam piping to see if our #condufill technology
As part of Morgan State’s plan to implement a comprehensive campus-wide energy efficiency and generation plan, and under the direction of Siemens and Steam Management, Inc., TST will measure, design, fabricate and install custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and other heating equipment in 18 buildings in an effort to reduce heat losses and save energy on the Baltimore-based campus. Having removable, reusable insulation will save the facility money over the years as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs are necessary on the valves, strainers and other heating equipment. In addition to RICs, TST will also install ASJ fiberglass pipe insulation and PVC fitting covers on bare steam pipe and fittings in many of the same buildings on campus. TST will kick off the project in June of 2022.
Siemens was selected for the project at Morgan State University in December of 2020 and entered into a Master Services Agreement with the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC). “We are honored to be selected by the Maryland Clean Energy Center as the Energy Services Company to support Morgan State University in paving its way towards energy decarbonization,” said Dana Soukup, President of Siemens Smart Infrastructure. “The vision of this partnership in the areas of energy conservation, decarbonization and STEM education will serve as a model for the Smart Campus of the Future by underlining our common commitment to sustainability and society.”
