TST successfully completed another manhole insulation project for Veolia Energy Philadelphia last week. TST measured, designed, manufactured and installed  custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RICs) for all steam and condensate piping in two manholes located in Philly. Phase I (measurement) and Phase II (installation of RICs) were both performed while the steam line was in service.  Due to the extreme heat within each manhole, TST required strict confined space entry controls while working on the streets of Philadelphia.

Veolia Energy’s district energy network serves the central business district in Philadelphia from three steam production facilities and one chilled water facility. Veolia owns and operates over 26 miles of steam and chilled water piping that current serves over 300 customers.
