NYC Steam Line Survey
We took a trip up to New York City last week to inspect a section of underground steam piping to see if our #condufill technology
H2O Applied Technologies recently awarded TST an energy-improvement insulation project at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) located in Beltsville, MD. The GSFC is the largest NASA space research laboratory currently in the U.S. and was built over 60 years ago when NASA was first founded. GSFC consists of scientists and engineers dedicated to increasing knowledge of the earth, the solar system and the universe via observations from space. The laboratory is also responsible for developing and operating unmanned scientific spacecraft for our ongoing space program.
As part of Constellation NewEnergy’s Energy Savings Performance Contract, and under the direction of H2O, TST will measure, design, fabricate and install custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and other heating equipment in 15 different buildings which will reduce heat losses and save energy.
Having removable, reusable insulation will save the facility money over the years as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs are necessary on the valves, strainers and other heating equipment. In addition to RICs, TST will also install ASJ fiberglass pipe insulation and PVC fitting covers on bare steam pipe and fittings in many of the same buildings on campus. TST expects to kick off the project sometime in the Summer or Fall of 2022.
