TST & US2 Team for Steam Distribution System Upgrades at NSA Monterey
MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA – TST and US2 are excited to announce the recent award of an energy-efficiency improvement project at NSA Monterey in Monterey, CA. TST will survey, measure, design, manufacture and install several hundred custom-made Removable Insulation Covers that will restore the thermal efficiency of un-insulated steam piping at the Naval Postgraduate School. Work is scheduled to commence at this prestigious flagship facility next month and will be completed by the end of August.
In June of 2012, TST conducted an onsite insulation assessment of all buildings and manholes on campus to identify bare, un-insulated steam valves, strainers, flanges and tanks that were contributing to energy losses on the distribution system. Following the assessment, TST and US2 presented a detailed report to the Navy that included theoretical heat loss calculations along with recommended thermal solutions for all pipe, fittings, vessels and equipment that showed signs of substantial energy loss. A portion of the identified scope was selected for this project and we remain hopeful that the remaining scope will be completed in a future contract with the Navy.
