VISN 5 – Insulation Upgrades

In conjunction with Steam Management, Inc. (Boston, MA), TST successfully completed an energy-improvement insulation project at three (3) VA Medical Centers located in Clarksburg, WV, Baltimore, MD and Perry Point, MD. TST measured, designed, fabricated and installed Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and equipment which will reduce heat losses and save energy throughout each healthcare facility for years to come. Having removable, reusable insulation will save the facility money over the years as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs are necessary on the valves and strainers. In conjunction with the installation of RICs, TST also installed ASJ fiberglass pipe covering on various sections of steam piping throughout many of the same buildings and tunnels at the facility.

UMD Manhole Removable Insulation Covers

UMD Manhole Removable Insulation Covers

TST completed the installation of custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) for all steam piping and fittings in ten (10) vaults on the University of Maryland’s campus. These RICs were fabricated with a hydrophobic Pyrogel® XT-E insulation. Pyrogel® XT-E is a high-temperature insulation blanket that is formed of silica aerogel and is deal for manholes or vaults that are prone to flooding, as it repels liquid water and restores the thermal efficiency of steam piping. VISN 12 – Hines VAMC ESPC

In conjunction with Steam Management, Inc. (Boston, MA), TST successfully completed an energy-improvement insulation project at the Edward Hines VA Medical Center in Hines, Illinois. TST measured, designed, manufactured, and installed 1,349 Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and equipment in several buildings and tunnels which will reduce heat losses and save energy throughout the healthcare facility for years to come. Having removable, reusable insulation will save the facility money over the years as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs are necessary on the valves and strainers. In conjunction with the installation of RICs, TST technicians also installed ASJ fiberglass pipe covering on various sections of bare steam piping throughout many of the same buildings and tunnels at the facility.

UMD Manhole Insulation Upgrades

TST measured, designed, manufactured, and installed 226 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and equipment in several buildings which will reduce heat losses and save energy throughout the healthcare facility for years to come.

UMD Insulation Upgrades

TST measured, designed, manufactured, and installed approximately 313 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and equipment throughout six buildings on campus. This will reduce heat losses and save energy on the campus for years to come. Indiana University Steam Line Restoration

Indiana University Steam Line Restoration

TST was contracted by Indiana University (Bloomington) to upgrade the efficiency of several sections of thermally-degraded buried steam distribution piping on campus. Seven (7) different sections of 4” Thermacor DuoTherm 505 piping at Beach Hall, Pine Hall, Cypress Hall, Linden Hall, Birch Hall, Hickory Hall, and Cedar Hall were thermally restored after ConduFill® was injected into the void between the outer casing and the carrier piping. Each 15 LF section of piping that was restored ran underneath the building and came up through the floor of a mechanical room. TST was able to park it’s Mobile Pumping Unit (MPU) close enough to each mechanical room so that the formulation could be injected through tubing that was strategically inserted between the outer casing and the steam line. The presence of ConduFill® in the system allows the university to restore thermal efficiency and reduce the likelihood of excess heat and vapor entering the building through the piping system. The project was completed over a two day period in late January 2018.

In conjunction with H20 Applied Technologies (Boston, MA), TST completed Phase 2 of an energy-improvement insulation project at the Lima Army Tank Plant in Lima, OH. TST measured, designed, manufactured, and installed 65 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and equipment in over a dozen buildings which will reduce heat losses and save energy throughout the manufacturing facility for years to come. Having removable, re-useable insulation will save the facility money over the years as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs are necessary on the valves and strainers.

Camden Campus Insulation Upgrades

Camden Campus Insulation Upgrades

TST has successfully completed another thermal restoration project at Rutgers University, Camden Campus with its innovative ConduFill® technology. A section of buried 12″ dual HTHW piping was thermally restored after 294 LF of ConduFill® was injected into the void space within a 20-inch diameter outer steel casing. The presence of ConduFill® allows the university to restore thermal efficiency, prolong the life of the piping system and avoid immediate and costly replacement. TST has successfully completed dozens of repairs on multiple campuses at Rutgers University since 2002.
