In March of 2026, under contract with Steam Management, Inc., TST measured, designed, fabricated, and installed over 100 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam piping, fittings and other heating equipment in multiple buildings at the Grand Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. In addition to saving energy and significantly reducing heat losses at the facility, having removable, reusable insulation will also save the medical center money over the years as RICs can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance and/or repairs are performed on valves, strainers, and other heating equipment. Permanent insulations are often significantly damaged or destroyed when removed, which results in significant re-insulation costs following routine maintenance and repairs.
TST also installed ASJ fiberglass pipe insulation on bare piping and PVC fitting covers on elbows in many of the same mechanical spaces that received removable insulation blankets. The combination of new fiberglass pipe insulation and custom RICs in these critical areas of the medical center assures that the system will operate as efficiently as possible for many years to come with minimal heat loss. A special thanks to our experienced team of insulators Darron Landry, Quenton Landry, Brant Monistere, Jonathan Morgan, and Zachary Smith who completed the project safely and ahead of schedule.
