Working alongside Steam Management, Inc., TST returned to the Morgan State University campus in July to install 285 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) on steam pipe fittings and heating equipment in 18 buildings in an effort to reduce heat losses and save energy on the Baltimore-based campus. As part of Morgan State’s plan to implement a comprehensive campus-wide energy efficiency and generation plan, the installation of removable, reusable insulation will recover heat losses and save the campus money as the insulation can be removed and reinstalled when maintenance or repairs become necessary on the insulated valves, strainers and heating equipment. In addition to the insulation blankets, TST also installed nearly 1000 LF of ASJ fiberglass pipe insulation and 200 PVC fitting covers on bare steam pipe and fittings in many of the same mechanical spaces and plants on campus. The turnkey insulation effort took two (2) weeks to complete.
Siemens was selected as the prime ESC for the project at Morgan State University in December of 2020 and entered into a Master Services Agreement with the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC). “We are honored to be selected by the Maryland Clean Energy Center as the Energy Services Company to support Morgan State University in paving its way towards energy decarbonization,” said Dana Soukup, President of Siemens Smart Infrastructure. “The vision of this partnership in the areas of energy conservation, decarbonization and STEM education will serve as a model for the Smart Campus of the Future by underlining our common commitment to sustainability and society.”
