Manhole Removable Insulation Covers – Veolia Baltimore
TST successfully completed another manhole insulation project for Veolia Energy Baltimore. TST measured, designed, manufactured and installed 19 custom-made Removable Insulation Covers (RIC) for all steam and condensate piping in four manholes in Baltimore City. Phase I (measurement) and Phase II (installation of RICs) were both performed while the steam line was in service. Due to the extreme heat within each manhole, TST required strict confined space entry controls while working on the streets of Baltimore.
Veolia Energy’s district energy network serves the central business district in Baltimore from several different steam production facilities and one chilled water facility. Veolia Energy Baltimore owns and operates over 15 miles of steam distribution piping that serves over 250 commercial, government, institutional and hospitality customers.
